Week #105-We Finally Found Them

(One of my favorite pics of Brenan)

Hey Mom, things are going good. We are hoping to get a baptism in the beginning of Sept!!!! We have been working with an investigator. She is a part-member family! Her husband has been struggling but they have made a conscious effort to make it back to church and change! She set her own baptismal date to get baptized Sept 4th! So I will be gone but we will have gone through all the lessons! So it is exciting to see how it has changed there life. There is nothing like it, when you testify of the first vision, and the spirit is there. We have taught her twice. This is the part-member family that we were looking for and we finally found them, and we pray they will continue to keep there commitments and strive to do what is right. They are awesome. I love the members in this ward and branch they are awesome!

I have studied on grace recently and I love it to the core it is one of my favorite doctrines and principles in the gospel. It is so apparent to me how much God Loves us!

I would encourage each of you, to read and study a talk by Brad Wilcox, called, “His Grace is Sufficient” it is amazing and it is filled with the spirit. I love the lord and I am thankful for the opportunity to serve and the love the Lord freely gives each of us,

I love each and everyone of you and hope that you are blessed as you STRIVE TO BE AND DO WHAT IS RIGHT! I know the Savior is their and that he loves us and that if we always to turn to him he can bless us and will and does enable us to change and be happy!

Week #104 – Two Weeks

Wednesday-  Hey Mom, Life is great and I love how merciful the lord is. I’m gonna keep it short bcus I don’t have much time but. I just want to say that the Lord loves us and gives us trials to learn and to grow.

Yesterday the library crashed and so we came back today to finish emailing and to do my plan. Life is great. in the field and I am enjoying my time left here in the mission. There are so many great and wonderful things that the lord has blessed us with. I am thankful for trials because I know that as we work through them the Lord will bless us and we will become closer to him, and we will be more like him.

I love each and everyone one of you and I can not wait to hug and see yall!

Here is a great quote that I think we should all apply.

“Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle. But you shall be a miracle.” -Phillips Brooks

Monday-   Hey Mom, thank you for this wonderful talk. I really enjoyed it, it really is inspiring and it is so true. I can’t wait to see ya’ll soon, two weeks!

I am doing great, I am ready to come home, and move to the next stage but i’m enjoying the rest of the mission. I would like to go to the temple at least once when i’m in cali maybe newport and
San Diego that would be cool, bcus i have never been in the San Diego temple.

This is the talk Brenan is referring to.

I wanted to share some thoughts about a talk by Elder Kevin W. Pearson called “Stay By the Tree”.

It’s basically about Lehi’s vision of the tree of life as a powerful payable on enduring to the end. If enduring to the end is essential to eternal life, why do we struggle to be faithful? We struggle when we are caught between competing priorities. Casual obedience and lukewarm commitment weaken faith. Enduring to the end requires total commitment to the Savor and to our covenants. Enduring to the end is a hallmark of true discipleship and is essential to eternal life. But when trials and challenges come our way, we are often told you simply “hang in there”. Let me be clear to “hang in there” is not a principle of the gospel. Enduring to the end means constantly coming to Christ and being perfected in him.

Carefully consider six important principles that help us endure to the end.

1. Don’t forget to pray-

We begin with the Lehi alone “in a dark and dreary waste”. Each of us experiences periods of darkness and loneliness. Pray for strength to endure to the end.

2. Come unto Christ and be perfected in him-

The tree represents Christ, who is the clear manifestation of the love of God. The ternal life with our loved ones is sweeter and more desirable than any other thing he is “the way the truth and the life.” We can fill our lives with accomplishment and well doing, but in the end, if we do not enter into sacred covenants to follow Christ and faithfully keep them, we will have utterly and completely missed the mark.

3. Press forward with faith-

There is a path that leads to the tree of life, to Christ. It is straight and narrow, strength and exact. Obedient to builds faith in Christ. Faith is the principle of action and power. Consistently following the saviors example produce a spiritual power and capacity. Without the strengthening and enabling power of the atonement, it’s impossible to stay on the path and endure.

4. the book of Mormon is key to spiritual survival-

Life’s journey is challenging. It’s easy to be distracted, wander off the path, and get lost. Be patient, cling to the truth, understanding will come. The book of Mormon and the words of the living profits every day. It’s the key to spiritual survival and avoiding deception. Without it, we are spiritually lost.

5. don’t be distracted and deceived-

Searching for spacious buildings for knowledge will not lead you to truth. It’s not posted there. Only the Savior has the word to be turned away. Everything else is just words.

6. stay by the tree-

We stay because we are converted unto the Lord. As we you our hearts to God, the Holy Ghost changes our very natures, we become deeply converted unto the Lord.
Apostasy is the reverse of conversion.

Returns Aug. 17th…

Week #103 – Coming Home

Flight Itinerary, coming home!!!

Hey FAMILY! LOVE YOU MOTHER! Thanks for putting that together! That will be super nice! Yes, I am ready to come home, some people say i’m trunky, but i’m really just ready to move onto the next stage of life. Its bitter sweet, but I know there are bigger and better things ahead! the MY PLAN program is great it helps to kinda set goals in the future and help you adjust. My last interview was not very long, he just thanked me for my service, said that I did a great job and then gave me some advice, i enjoyed it. I will have one last interview in the mission home it just won’t be very long.  When I get home I do not know exactly what I want to do , I do want to make the best of it, I would like to go to the BEACH ASAP and go SURF WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND WHOEVER WANTS TO GO! I am super excited to see everyone and come home! It will be a blast! Our investigators are kind of stagnate right now. We are hoping that someone will get baptized in the coming months. We did find a new inv. who is very interested and has come to church. She is a baptist and really wants to see what our church has to offer. Her husband is a less active! He is trying to change as well! It is awesome the work is going forward. It rained a lot this week.

We did some more service this week cutting some bamboo for our neighbors, it was a good work out haha. The south is so weird. It rains when it is sunny outside then doesnt rain when it is cloudy, weirdest weather. I do not get it. In Brookhaven this week we had a branch party and it was fun. Alot of people showed up we even met some new people and a new inv. came. This week there was not anything that is standing out in my mind right now. We also went to IHOP with a member and there non member friends it was good we gave them a BOM. It was a great restoration lesson.

Im keeping it short today but, all I can say is that the Lord loves us infinitely and that we have to forget the past and the mistakes we have made and move forward! we cant have a bright future if we are always living in our History. Guilt is one of the most horrible things, we need to let things go and get things fixed so we can enjoy our life. If we are guilty or have any regrets which we all do, we need to let them go and in doing so we will then have the capacity to enjoy this moment, and then the next with a clean slate. I am so thankful for the mission, my Savior Jesus Christ and my family and friends. May each of us turn to our Savior Jesus Christ and rely on his atonement in all we do!

Love each and every one of you!

Week #102 – It is a Gift

Hey Family and friends I hope all is well! This week was great. We did a lot of things. We went on exchanges in Crystal Springs and I had a blast. We contacted someone on the street and passed out a Book of Mormon to him. After Exchanges we had interviews with President Olson. He has given me my final interview it was great. He is a great mission president and leader. He gave me a lot of great advice.I am glad that I was able to serve under two great mission presidents they have taught me a lot! Yesterday we went out with a member from red star. Bro. Webb. He is a great man and loves the lord. We went and saw some less actives and we were able to get into every door we knocked on, it was awesome. On the Last house, we went and saw a less active bishop wanted us to see. This individual opened up and listened to us and I was prompted to talk about the Book of Mormon and how it is the keystone of our religion. Each of us shared experiences on how the Book of Mormon has blessed our lives and has enabled us through the atonement of Jesus Christ to be happy, that it has given us courage to do the hard things. That it is a compass in our lives and will keep us on the path that Christ wants us to go. After we testified. I felt the impression to ask if this individual had ever been through the temple. So I did, I asked straight up as I felt. He said no, and I immediately testified that it was the only place on earth where every concern, every worry, every problem we might have or face is left at the door. That we should strive to be worthy to enter there and to feel of the spirit there. As soon as I said that, Bro. Webb started to cry. He said that he had been prompted to ask this man if he had been to the temple, and that he was prompted to testify of the blessings there. But that he was worried that he would offend him or that he would make him feel uncomfortable, he didn’t want to ruin his friendship with him.So he waited, as soon as he had questioned that prompting it came to him a second time and as soon as it came to him the second time, he heard me speak of the temple and ask this man, he said that the spirit just hit him and the spirit filled the room as I testified that the temple is where the Lord wants him. Bro. Webb then testified after I did, of the promptings that just had taken place and testified to this man the same thing, and that he knows the Lord wants him there. The spirit was there and we committed this man to read the Book of Mormon each day and to pray with real intent and to hold fast to it, that he would be able to overcome all his hardships and addictions and trials because of Jesus Christ.

It is amazing to see the miracles that happen in each of our lives. But the problem is that we must have the eyes to see them. Most of us have miracles happen each day, God constantly blesses us and protects us and sustains us moment by moment, and we sometimes just don’t see it. We have to get to a point to where our way of thinking and vision is different. We have to have a drive to find those things the lord does for us and that is when our perspective changes that we will be able to see the many blessings and miracles the lord works in our lives daily. I can testify that when we get the chance to see those miracles and blessings throughout our lives that is when we can truly know that God is real, that everything we have is a sacred gift! It is a gift, every smile, every laugh, every prayer heard, every struggle, every moment, every breath, it is a gift. We cant let it go to waste, we must cherish every moment of it. I will not waste it, we cant waste it, we will live our life in faith! In honor to God who has given us an opportunity to grow, and that even when we fail he is still there encouraging us to get up and try again. IT IS A GIFT!

It takes an eternal perspective to get that vision to see things in life that way. We get that vision through Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, repenting and reading the scriptures daily!

Through that the Lord will change our hearts and enable us change. I am so thankful for the Lord and his love in mercy in my life, I hope all of us can see his hand in our lives!

I love yall have a great week, dont let anything go to waste!
Learn grow and become!
