Week #76 Seek the Lord

With Brother Jeremy Chance, a recent convert.

Hey Y’all (and you mom, i got to give you a special shout out LOVE YOU!) Hope all is well back home and that things are going good! Things are going good in the mission field, Elder Konchar and I have been working hard! The lord has truly been blessing us! I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve and help others.

I want to keep it a short email this week to yall, but I want to say and testify that if we seek the lord we can find him.

As we feast upon the scriptures, which means more than to eat, or to read, it means to savor and delight in the discovery of new truths, if we do that, the lord will poor out revelation unto us. As we write it down and listen to those promptings, he will give us even more revelation to our life and even more answers to questions. I can testify of that I have been experiencing it in the mission field. I exhort all to read the Book of Mormon, and see if it will change your life, see if it will change your attitude, even your day. The days go better as we read the scriptures. D&C 90:24

If you think it is revelation or if your not sure, just do what is right, and what is good. All things good, are sent from God.

“12 And now, verily, verily, I say unto thee, put your trust in that Spirit which leadeth to do good—yea, to do justly, to walk humbly, to judge righteously; and this is my Spirit.

13 Verily, verily, I say unto you, I will impart unto you of my Spirit, which shall enlighten your mind, which shall fill your soul with joy;

14 And then shall ye know, or by this shall you know, all things whatsoever you desire of me, which are pertaining unto things of righteousness, in faith believing in me that you shall receive.” D&C 11:12-14

I testify that these things are true, I trust and believe that anyone who wants to know God and his will, can, as they search in the scriptures, pray often and put faith in Him who is mighty to save.

Jesus Christ is the son of God, he suffered these things for all, that they might come unto him and be saved. Our Heavenly Father loves us and wants what is best for us, turn to him and listen to him, he wont lead you astray.

Love yall! Have a fantastic week! Listen to the counsel of the Lord! Sincerely, Elder Brenan Corbin

Week #75 “The Will of God”

Hey Mom, sounds like back home things are going non-stop.  The Kennedy’s live right behind us?? Crazy, What crazy, Hailey (Brenan’s friend) got hit by a car? Holy, that is not good.! That is not good at all!! Good thing she is okay! Wow. Life can definitely throw curve balls for sure! Thankfully, a knowledge of the lord and faith in Jesus Christ is what brings us through!

You know what a super cool super power would be, If we could have comfort in chaos, and we can! Thanks to the Savior! What a blessing. In John, Christ says that he will send the comforter to us. What a huge blessing. One thing that Satan can not replicate in life is Peace. The Counselor, the great law giver is the only one who can give us peace in hard times. I hope all of us when we get hit by that ‘car’ in life that we will be prepared and be able to say that “all is well”.

Sometimes when those times come we might say, “why me” or “how could you do this to me” and when I tend to ask those questions, i think of two mormon messages. “come what may and love it” and “the will of god”. In both of those messages, we learn how to have joy in hard times, and how we can learn from them. I can testify when those times come what is going to get you through, is PRAYER AND SCRIPTURE STUDY!

Remember Lehi’s dream in 1 Nephi. What gets us out of the mist of darkness and temptation is the word of God.

I testify to everyone reading this and to the world that hard times will come, our job is to get to breaking points and not break. The only way we can do that is through the Atonement of Christ. I know that through the Atonement of Christ that we can be cleansed from all mistakes and be able to overcome all things.

So far this week our investigators, are kind of the same. One thing Brandi Majeska will be baptized soon, I will let yall know what date she chooses.

have a great week, church is absolutely true!

Thank yall for all the love and support! Keep it real! YALL!

Week #74 – “I Found My People”

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES  Elder Corbin, President Sullivan, Brenda Reeves, Elder Konchar

Hey MOM! I am staying in Farmerville, with elder Konchar, so awesome, hopefully we can baptize more of Gods children into the true fold! This week was super crazy!!!!!!!!!! It was rewarding though, for after much tribulation come the blessings! D&C 58:2-4 LETS GO! HAHA, Brenda Reeves got baptized! MY FIRST BAPTISM! She was found about 2 weeks before I was transferred into this area. It was so awesome! I was so pumped for her, she truly knows the church is true!!! Our Branch President baptized her. I confirmed her a member of the church and gave her the Holy Ghost! It was awesome, the spirit was strong! Right after I gave her a blessing she said, “I found my people”. Everyone started laughing haha. I am so thankful for priesthood, it truly is a special gift, I am thankful that I am able to be apart of such a wonderful blessing. WOW, life flies, Hailey Kennedy got back from her mish, crazy, same with Camille, dang! Life is so awesome, congrats to them. Blessings from the lord truly are limitless. Heavenly Father truly does hear prayers and answer them! I can say, with the sincerity of my heart, that there are people prepared all around the world, who the spirit has worked on. There heart is being brought to sincere faith in God, and repentance and a belief in our Lord Jesus Christ. As servants of the Lord we are to find those who are WILLING TO RECEIVE US. When we find that person we are to invite, teach, and help them receive the restored gospel. I believe a lot of us are really good at inviting people to change, and teaching them how, but helping is a completely different subject. Helping someone receive the gospel is a lot more difficult. It requires something of the person teaching and inviting! If you study the scriptures, you will notice that the prophets frame of mind, is very similar to that of Christ. Indeed they have the “mind of Christ”. They have charity, it is that charity which makes them such good missionaries. When we teach and invite, and help people with that love, the spirit will testify of our love, the branches love, and ultimately Christ’s love. How often do we really, really, desire the salvation of someone else’s soul? Sometimes I think we forget about our own, let alone somebody else’s. But our Heavenly Father wants us to receive Eternal Life more than we want it! How awesome is that! Only if we could emulate that kind of Love to those we serve! Indeed we do our best, but we all fall short, and sometimes it is very disappointing. Disappointment in ourselves, in our families, in those around us,and in the world.

When you get to that breaking point, when you get ready to throw in the towel. Where you have no where else to turn but to God. When you lack faith, when you are on your knee’s begging for something, for something to push you along. What is it that you are thinking about?

That is when you will bring the smile of God’s approval!

You want answers to prayers? You want to know if these things are true?

Live the gospel doctrine, and emulate the pure love of Christ.
That is the formula for happiness. No matter what comes our way, no matter the trial, we can still be happy and grateful!

Lets dig a little deeper.

Peter taught, ” 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

The “manifold temptations” represent our trials, our lack of faith, our weakness, which is “more precious than gold” because it will bring us closer to Christ if we let it, and ultimately unto salvation, at the end of our faith, the end of our TRIAL, we can receive glory. Remember Christ, he received a crown of thorns before he received a crown of Glory. We have to remember what our purpose is in life, and forget ourselves in service to our Lord.

Paul touched on this a little bit when he talked about eternal perspective!

“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18. When we focus our minds and lives on those things which are eternal, it will give us the strength to push threw our troubles in this life, and we will be happy. Singing as the days go by!

I want to testify that God is real. Our Heavenly Father loves us. He loves you. He wants what is best for you. He loves you so much that through his son Jesus Christ, he created the worlds. He created flowers, and animals. He created your body, and gave you a family. He sent you here to learn, to grow, to experience pain, suffering, anguish, sorrow, sacrifice, so that you could learn to experience joy! HE wants you to be happy. You can contact him and learn of him, for his burden is light, and his yoke is easy. I know that if you pray to him, and ask him, your Heavenly Father, that out of your honest heart he will send his spirit to comfort you and you will feel of his love! I promise you that if you pray with an honest heart and plead at your bedside for Heavenly Father to show forth his love unto you, he will, and it will fill your soul with love!!!! I know that Heavenly Father answers prayers, I know that he sends his spirit to comfort us, to lead us, and guide us in the path we are to go. I know that Jesus Christ is truly his son, that he dwelt upon the earth in a place called Bethlehem, that he suffered in a garden called Gethsemane, that he was crucified on the hill, Golgotha. That he was resurrected the third day, that he shewed the apostles his hands and feet! That he truly lives TODAY! HE LIVES! I know that he loves us, that he suffered all these things for us. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in a grove called Sacred. I know that these things are true. Listen to what I am saying, I know that these things are a reality, I know! I have been brought down to the depths of humility, where I had no where to turn, but to God, and it is these times that are more precious than gold, that I have found my Heavenly Father there saying, ” My son, I am here. Fear not, for I am with thee every step of the way. I have overcome the world, learn to trust me, these things are true, I love you, you can do it.” I know that the Book of Mormon is true, I know that it contains the fullness of the everlasting gospel of my Savior Jesus Christ.

I testify out of the conviction of my soul, that God answers prayers, that he loves you, and is waiting for you to contact him, so he can lead you! Contact him, listen to him, and serve his children.

Remember the scriptures,

When the King of Syria became frustrated with Elisha who was hindering his conquests, he sent spies to locate the prophet and then, under cover of night, had his army surround the town where Elisha was located. Early in the morning, Elisha and his servant arose and saw that they were surrounded. The servant exclaimed: “Alas, my master! how shall we do?” Elisha answered in a reassuring voice: “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said: “Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.” The young man’s eyes were opened, and he saw that “the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:8-18. The King of Syria did not prevail.

I testify they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

In the name of Jesus Christ, my master, amen.

Ps. Love you Mom, you are best women I have ever met in my entire life, and I am so thankful for all the love you have shown me, I have felt the presence of the Lord through you! Dad, I love you! You have taught me so much, I have felt the spirit testify of the simple truths you have taught me! Sometimes I cant find the words to describe the words I have for both of you and the rest of the family! Remember this love the savior gave to us, for it is charity that never faileth.

Week #73- Amazing Miracles

Hey Mom, My New Year was awesome! WE ate tons of BBQ, we played some flag football! It was awesome! I was able to go to the same house I played flag football at last year! It was awesome to see all those old members, and have some fun with them! That is good that is going to rain, Cali needs it! Wow, Mother you have a lot of callings, the lord has entrusted you to do a valiant work in Newport! This week has been crazy. The area that I am serving in right now is awesome! I love it! THE members in the Farmerville branch are so loving and kind, there is a spirit here like that is unique. Everyone meets everyone and welcomes them in. There is a true love here. I want to start out by talking about two of our investigators.

1st. Mrs. Brenda Reeves. She has accepted a baptismal date for Jan 10th 2016. So that is this week! It will be my first baptism!! Wow crazy!~ The lord truly does bless us! We are teaching her tonight with a Recent Convert. We will be teaching the commandments. All she has left is the ordinances. She is excited to be baptized! It will be awesome!

2nd. Mrs. Brandi Majeska, she is a apart of a part member family. She has been coming to church for a long time. But has just struggled with smoking. She decided on her own, and with the help of the spirit, to quit smoking. yesterday, we taught her the stop smoking workshop and she is in her second day! She only has 5 more days to go! It was a very spiritual lesson! We have taught her pretty much everything, she is just gonna kick this habit, and hopefully decide she wants to be baptized by proper authority. I have faith it will happen.

We have been praying and working with these two and we hope and pray that they will both be baptized in January! THat would be awesome! The lord truly does answer prayers and lead us to those who are ready to hear his gospel!

Another cool thing that has happened is we have another investigator named Don Gibson. He is an awesome guy. HE works night shifts at the chicken plant here in farmerville. So he cant ever get time off to come to church. So it is really difficult for him to progress. His job is the only thing holding him back from being baptized, we believe. So we have been praying for a way to get him to church! So we were tracting one day, and we tracted into Mikios Caster, and taught him the restoration, and he accepted a copy of the Book of Mormon! As we were teaching we found out that Mikios was DONS BOSS! WOW CRAZY! Mikios is the manager of the night shifts at the same chicken plant! So we are hoping and praying that Mikios will like us enough, to let Don get some time off work, and that they can both come to church and be baptized together. It is a long shot but, the Lord is a God of miracles, and I will have faith in him, and hope and pray with all my heart that they can be blessed to come to church and know by the power of the holy Ghost that these things are true!

Some amazing miracles are happening! The lord is in his work, for it is not ours. He can do it without us. I have experienced that, I know what it is like to teach without the spirit, it does not work. I know what is like to teach, when my companion does not like me, or when I don’t like my companion, it does not work. I know what is like to teach when you are not as obedient as you should be, it does not work. But what does work, is when you give your heart to God.

When you get on your knees, and pray with all the energy of your heart, that is when the lord will bless you, with a forgiveness of your sins, and fortify you with strength. I have felt it, in all the aspects of my life, whether in the mission field or back home. The closest times I have been to my savior are the times that are the hardest. I know what it is like when you have no place to go, but to your Heavenly Father. I have felt the Lord lead me along, with the power of his atonement. I have felt that angels are involved in this work, on both sides of the veil!

Blessed are all men, for there truly is a Savior, who is Christ Jesus. HE lives! I know IT! I have felt it this week! I have felt him answer my prayers! I have felt his spirit overwhelm my spirit as I have prayed with all the energy of my heart! I know the Book of Mormon is true! I know that we have apostles and prophets today! I know that we have a master teacher, and perfect example, and a master pilot. The great Architect, the Chief Designer! He is the Chief Captain, he loves us!

We can indeed turn to him, and get constant communication for our lives! Only our knowledge, our weaknesses, our desires, our ignorance, is what holds us back from drawing closer to him!

Forgive so that you can be forgiven! Lead by example, and follow your Savior! I know that is the only way to a happy life, here, and in the eternities! The church is true! The church is true!

I have felt the spirit this week, overpower my soul, and invigorate my faculties, even to an awakening of my soul!
I am so thankful for my Heavenly Father, and his loving kindness and long suffering towards the children of men!

Let us help, invite, and teach others about the restored gospel! Have the courage and the zeal to stand firm in the truth! Have integrity, and honor your commitment to serve the lord!
